Mike Bowden exemplifies the kind of 'folkie' that drove Dylan to distraction - and off the road in Woodstock - it's quite something to hear someone talking about 'the voice of a generation' after everything we've learnt....those words sent a shiver down Dylan's spine. I often wondered about 1966 and the booing; hadn't anyone heard 'Bringing It All Backhome' and 'Highway 61 Revisited?' There's drums and electric guitar all over 'em. Then again, they're always a year or two behind the rest of the world up North. Again we get Bowden's inverted snobbery concerning Dylan's musical reorientation....one has to ask oneself, how is it possible that even someone suffering from monomania can fail to have heard 'Like A Rolling Stone?' Indeed, Dylan has said in interviews from this period that he had considered quiting as he was sick of the 'spokesman' thing and the direction his music was taking - ironically, it was the '65 UK tour that brought things to a head. 'Like A Rolling Stone' changed everything, and re-energised the flagging Dylan. Mr Bowden appears to come around in the end; but my thoughts about the two albums prior to 'Blonde On Blonde' and 'folkie amnesia' still seem apposite.

Freezing cold building, new but cold inside. Espiscially in the autum, winter and springs month. They don't switch the heating on. Even tho we pay £9,000 in tutions fees. so cold you can't write and you have to keep your coat on.

Not a fair reflection of the university. I am a student myself at MMU and half of the students don't attend because of the poor teaching and experience. Lectures theatre are half empty and academic standard can be call into question. Go to BPP or College of Law if you want to study for a law degree. MMU is awful in my experience. The £9,000 tuition fee, for poor education, does not reflect the quality of education received.

At around 5:55, the one guy starts talking about how people asked later why the audience didn't applaud at the beginning of every number, and it reminded me---on You Tube last year, someone posted the September 3, 1965 Hollywood Bowl Dylan concert (with Al Kooper, Harvey Brooks, Levon Helm and Robbie Robertson, Dylan's second ever concert with a full electric set, the first being Forest Hills a week before)--i was at that concert when i was 16. i never heard it again, of course, since that night, until last year, when it was posted on You Tube, it's posted as Elston Gunn Live at the Hollywood Bowl 1965, i just stumbled on it in the you tube list of related videos when i was watching something else. It's a wonderful recording, audio is good, clear, and as i listened to it, some of the songs people applauded at the beginning and some they didn't, and i was confused, it was so odd to hear these great songs starting and nobody applauding--until i realized, oh yeah, we were hearing those songs for the first time that night, no one recognized them. it was the ones from Highway 61 Revisited, the album had just been released about 3 or 4 days before the concert, first time i ever heard Ballad of a Thin Man and Desolation Row. Also, during the new songs, the very large audience was dead silent, trying to hear all the words, and Dylan was singing the words really clear and distinct, he wanted them to be heard. Laughter broke out at the end of "one hand is tied to the tight rope walker, the other is in his pants.." and also "he went off sniffing drainpipes, and reciting the alphabet." The silent attentive audience cracked up. i don't remember that, it's so great to have the recording. It's weird to think of hearing those lines for the first time, at a concert. I downloaded recording from You Tube and listened to it several times during the first 2 or 3 days, it was very moving. Unlike Manchester, the audience definitely expected the electric set and desired it, Bringing it All Back Home had been out for long enough that people were in love with those songs, and Like a Rolling Stone had been out since July. Robbie Robertson has a book that just came out, autobiography. About that concert, he writes of people booing during the electric set. I was there, i didn't hear any booing and there was so much love for Dylan, he was feeling it, he talks with the audience throughout the concert, he sounds happy, laughing, joking, at one point he can't find the harmonica he needs, i think it was a C harp, he calls out, "Anybody got a C harp?" and at least one landed on the stage, which he used. I remember that part. It had that casual feel as if he were playing at a club in the village, despite it being a massive outdoor venue. It surprised me that Robbie emphasized the booing which, if there was any, you can't hear it on the recording and like i said, people were very quiet during the electric set, hungering to hear the words, everybody wanted more Dylan. Comparing that to Manchester, there's no comparison. There were a lot of happy people at Manchester, but the angry people really made themselves heard. Apparently the same is true of the Newport festival. But i also heard the same thing about Forest Hills, which was a week before the concert i saw. Some time in the past year i got a copy of a recording of the Forest Hills concert, unlike Hollywood Bowl, it has bad audio but still wonderful to be able to hear, and i have to strain to hear any booing, there wasn't much, i could hear a little at the beginning of some songs but Dylan ignored it and played for the people who wanted to hear, and they were all quiet and straining to listen like at Hollywood Bowl. there was lots of cheering and happy people.

Good montage, but not a useful video in any way. What was the main purpose of creating this? Advertising? Pros: -Small glance at what is inside the halls and rooms. Cons: -No information at all -No links in the video description -No interview! What a person want is to hear a review from a couple of students who lived there. In addition, a questions and answers interview with Uni's staff would be good as well. -Camera was turning too fast all the time so you couldn't see details. Plus that fish-eye effect or whatever it is, looks nice, but do you really need that in this kind of a video?
